This course teaches several mold making techniques, using automatic and manual processes to develop cavity and core components. Using analysis tools to develop optimal parting lines, while checking for draft and undercuts in your geometry. How to import and repair information coming from other 3D platforms. Also covered is creating complex multi-core molds with multiple parting directions.

David Brown has over twenty years of industry experience in a wide variety of manufacturing processes and environments. Everything from consumer products, custom millwork, electronic card assemblies, and large steel weldment fabrication. His roles have included Project Coordinator, Applications Engineer, Sales Designer, Shop Supervisor, Project Cost Estimator, Production Technician, and has filled several Team Leadership positions. Using a variety of CAD packages, including over a decade of SOLIDWORKS experience, his projects include high end restaurant equipment, acoustical enclosures for theaters and performing arts centers, and personal projects including residential home improvement and musical instruments. In addition to industry experience, David has a passion for education and has taught students in elementary, high school, and college level courses, and brings his knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to the classroom.
David is currently a Training Engineer for Hawk Ridge Systems working out of our Beaverton, OR office. When he’s not teaching SOLIDWORKS, he’s at the beach, hiking in the mountains, or making music in his home studio.
